Look at That Beautiful Bird Over There!

Admiring a beautiful bird
Takes only a brief moment to do,
But take another, more careful look:
What bright insights come to you?
A perceptive person will see
So many aspects of form and flight,
Intriguing details of feather and feet,
An attention-getting sight.

Each kind of bird makes its call,
Has a smart little brain in its head,
And you’ll note where and when to observe
If you’ll pay attention, as I’ve said.

So taking this idea to apply,
What deeper notions can we find?
God gives us much to appreciate
When we open our very busy mind.

Encouragement!  Yes, other languages say this word, too!  *
    A well-worded encouragement is valuable.  It’s different from a compliment — so take a longer look at encouragement.
Can you recall any particular person who, at some time, encouraged you?  Do you remember what they said?  How did you react or reply?
When you are given encouragement you may be strengthened in your efforts because you’ve been acknowledged for what you have already done, and recognized for the grand possibilities in your future.  Specific abilities may be mentioned, certain obstacles may be acknowledged. Some particular suggestion could be included.
Can you recall any words from someone that, at first, challenged or irritated you, but it made you think longer about the situation? How did you respond?
  Did you grow emotionally or spiritually from any comments, written or verbal, someone made to you?
Were there times when you needed a kind, helpful word, but no one spoke up to encourage you? Did this teach you something?
How are you at giving some words of encouragement? Is it easier for you to give verbal encouragement or written encouragement?
Our goal in life is beyond survival, it’s to achieve a personal goal of success.

Outside on a Starry Night

Where do you start on a journey of faith?
     Start outside on a dark, clear night.
Stand on tiptoe and stretch to the sky
     Look up at the bright starry sight.

See worlds in orbit and suns aflame;
     Pause to consider their faraway light.

YOUR Automobile and YOU

Let’s compare YOUR automobile with YOU. Can you add to this list?
  1. Your auto didn’t just make itself, all by itself. You were designed and made by Someone; you didn’t just “happen.”
  2. Your auto has lots of unseen, but necessary parts that all work together. Your insides consist of lots of interesting little parts.
  3. Your auto needs certain amounts of fuel and oil or it can’t run. You need certain amounts of food and water to keep your body going.
  4. Your auto will run best when you follow the directions. You can basically keep out of trouble when you follow certain specific, important rules.
  5. When your auto seems to be having some problem it’s good to get advice from a person who is knowledgeable.  When you face a problem it’s good for you to acknowledge that fact and get helpful advice from someone of good experience and good reputation.
  6. You demonstrate pride in your auto by taking good care of it. Taking good care of your body and your mind shows your care and concern, and is helpful to you.

Seeing Time Go By

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery,
I can’t even hold on to life right now;
The past didn’t last, but there are lessons to learn,
So I pray, dear Lord, show me what and how.

I ‘m seeing time going by, and today I know why,
The Creator of Everything designed it that way;
The sooner I recognize it, don’t try to disguise it
I can see wisdom in making the most of today.
