The Drone Over HardtHaven

     What fun for the kids and what nice photos it gives us ! 
     The photos were taken by a volunteer who came to Kpando and brought his drone ! 
The kids were utterly fascinated by the drone and, as you can see, it captured some really unique photos of the HardtHaven family and our facilities ! 
     The covered area in front has several picnic benches where the kids eat, do homework, and play. The building on the left is the girl's dorm, the building on the right is the boys dorm. The building in the back is the office, library, store room, and medical room where a doctor sees the kids and sponsored families for their checkups. 
     In the group photo are the HardtHaven kids, the matrons (the women who care for the kids day-to-day), and a couple of volunteers !

Happy People and Happy Kids

Granddaughter Joy was in Ghana, Africa visiting HardtHaven Children’s Home in January 2017.  She writes, “I have been warmly welcomed home to Kpando, Ghana by my co-founder Edem Richard.  Everyone who has met Edem knows how inspiring he is, and the work he and his wife have done here in Kpando never ceases to amaze me.  HardtHaven has developed into something we only dreamed about when we first sketched out our plans over 11 years ago.”

HardtHaven is currently housing and caring for 23 AIDS orphans.  There are opportunities for volunteers from around the world to make a difference in Ghana.

What's Happening in Ghana

        Perhaps you've already seen the children's photo posted earlier.  Perhaps you're wondering about these orphans in Africa; and perhaps you wonder how we know about them.
        In 2007 granddaughter Joy was just 22 and in nursing school when she volunteered at a hospital in Ghana, Africa.  Her heart was touched and she co-founded HardtHaven, an orphanage in Kpando.
        Never heard of the town? Copy this:   6°59'57.28"N  0°18'9.43"E  and paste it in the Search box on Google Earth to find it.
        What's happening these days?  Joy, now a Navy nurse LTJG, finished her deployment to Djibouti, Africa and is back in the U.S.  The HardtHaven blog has been updated, and you'll want to take a look here.
