The Reason for This Poem

I looked at the calendar
And what did I see?
Nearly time for a special day,
And what could that be?



Oh, it goes by many names,
Let’s just say it’s time
To celebrate friendship
In some kind of rhyme.

Or if there are not enough
Rhyming words to find
We’ll settle for the ordinary
That pop into my mind!

So, anyway, celebrate the day,
Or better yet the season --
Friends really don’t need
A specific reason!
