Five Ideas for the New Year

With a calendar in hand,
Next year’s boxes in view,
For practical planning
Here’s five ideas for me, for you.



Let’s see if each of us can
Find time to correspond;
Keep in touch, by phone or mail
To strengthen family bond.

Reminisce about the past,
Make sure to write it down;
What do you recall about
Home, school, family, and town?

Who said what, and what they did,
Seek memories to treasure;
Your recollections may become
A special sharing pleasure.

Keep in mind our Father’s love,
It’s Him we want to please,
Begin and end each day in prayer,
Looking up when on our knees.

The Lord is always with you,
So this do not forget:
He’s growing you in many ways,
And He’s not finished yet.

One more idea to consider:
Plan to schedule in some fun.
Life flies by all too quickly,
Before you know it, ‘twill be done.

So, here we go adventuring,
Life’s possibilities, explore;
Climb those hills, jump the hurdles,
See what the new year has in store.
