Do You Recognize a Challenge When You See It?

A challenge a day keeps the cobwebs away!
There’s something to do
That can best be done by YOU.
Helping someone, you can show them how,
But that’s no guarantee they’ll thank you now.
Go ahead, be helpful anyhow.
Challenges come to help us grow,
Expect some frustration, but don’t let it show.
You can do more -- and better -- than before,
Encouraging you is what THIS is for.

Choices to make
Help might be hidden
Assess any applicable resources
Learn from earlier problems and failures
Listen cautiously to advice
Expect to learn more
Never forget to pray for wisdom
Go on with good judgment
Expect the right solution

What Season Is It Now?

Consider where you are right now:
   Life is full of chapters and seasons;
Take a new look at yourself today,
   Picture possibilities and reasons.

Are you in a season of testing?
   Don’t lose hope, you can learn, you can make it through.
Are you in a season of resting?
   Give thanks for a peaceful time that God provides for you.

Earth Day: A Challenge

A time to recognize and appreciate the miracle of the Earth,
A unique place in all of the universes visible in sight;
We are to learn more, demonstrating our wisdom and our care,
Expressing better behavior, thoughtful actions, doing right.

Surely by now, we owe regard to our Earth’s Creator,
How difficult is that to do with an honest heart?
Then we respond with gratitude and songs of praise,
Showing the next generation how to do their part.

What a Blessing to Have Old Friends

Old Friends are comfortable to be around,
You can sit on their couch, sip coffee or tea;
Have a conversation about anything,
Feel relaxed, appreciated, and free.

No need to impress with the latest info,
No arguing about what’s in the news;
With an understanding of differences
Relaxation is what you can choose.

No apology for crumbs on the table,
No fuss about any dust on the floor,
No showing off, you just be yourself;
Want coffee? just ask for some more.

Passover Teaches Us Love

In days gone by, slavery held them,
But they were challenged to trust and obey,
Passover’s innocent lamb was given
And is remembered and celebrated today.

To Easter, or Not to Easter? That Is the Question

Some call it “Easter,” a long tradition of celebrations,
Others chafe at those religious inclinations,
So, what’s a normal person to do?

Shop ‘til you drop, buy the latest fashion and toys?
Or find a quiet backyard place to consider springtime joys?
My friend, the answer’s up to you.

If you meet God and ask Him the questions you mention,
He’d answer your heart so you’d examine your intention,
If you’ll be honest while you see this thing through.

The Soft, Little Stuffed Lamb on the Table

      A little lamb in their backyard waits for Passover, but a little stuffed lamb sits on my table, waiting for “Easter.” Many people choose decorations of cute rabbits and baby chicks, baskets of fake green straw and candy, I want my family to focus on the fuller meaning of the day.
      What is Passover? In the Bible we read about this event and the powerful results of obedience to God. (See Exodus 12:1-13, Deuteronomy 16:1-8).
