The Sooner, the Better

When God wants to get our attention
The sooner we agree with Him,
The better off we’ll be.

First, come little nudges of conscience,
Little whisperings, little happenings,
Little reminders.

Meanwhile, all around are evidences
Of His awesome, mighty power;
God is Creator.

His Word is there for us to see
Accounts of His dealings with mankind,
Justice and mercy.

It’s not good for us to ignore Him;
There come certain consequences
for the seeds we sow.

The issues God points out to us
Become serious to ignore;
It’s rebellion, you know.

He will faithfully allow us time,
But we do not know how long;
Meanwhile, pressure will grow.

Discomfort and unhappiness
Are sent to point us to God;
So He can set us free.

Call out to Him, honestly
And listen to Him carefully,
The sooner, the better.
