Thankfulness evades the harried heart,
But that’s what this time is for;
A few quiet moments alone,
I can’t spare much more. . .
I will sit here by myself
And open the Bible and read;
God’s words of wisdom and love
Are what my frazzled nerves need.
He talks to me and I talk to Him
In honesty of prayer,
It’s so good to remember
That Jesus is there.
I know I need directions
And I need faith to cope;
Thankfully I find here
The foundation for my hope.
This time for spoken gratitude
Is so good for my heart;
It gives my coming busy day
A very worthwhile start.
