Veterans Day 2017

On November 11, the day to honor veterans we pause
     to remember their service and sacrifice because
now we’re glad our nation finally has peace at last.
     And we look back on all the yesterdays that are past,
we consider all the wars that the world has seen:
     hordes of people who are angry, violent and mean,
but it’s also a day to remember that we can pray
     for God’s protection and His guidance every day.

Bravely They Serve, Faithfully We Remember

On Memorial Day we honor veterans who died.
On Veterans Day we honor those who are still alive.

There could be more time for recognition, celebration,
More time given for our thoughtful consideration;
Let us pray for these brave women and men
Who give their lives In the service of our nation.
Yes, fly the flag, watch what we say,
And for their families, we also pray.
And pray for our leaders to do what is right,
Turn from sin’s darkness towards the light.

We, should bravely serve each other, too.
The LORD has a blessing for me and for you.

It's Veterans' Day

It’s Veterans’ Day,
and we are thankful for those who serve!
Yes, there’s evil in the world and vets take their stand.
There are complicated situations all around,
But these men and women protect us in our land.

Thank a veteran, put your thoughts into words.
Don’t skip by in a careless, uncaring way.
Pray for all those in law enforcement who
Help each of us survive another day.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 26

        What to remember?  Lots of sales at the mall?  Take the kids to see a parade downtown?  Watch some TV specials?
        Here’s your homework.  Look up the info here, and scan other entries when you do a Search on the computer.
        Remember. A special day to honor those who served us in the armed forces calls for our reexamination of our own understanding.  A special day for prayer for those who now serve and for the families of those who died in serving our country.  A day to thank God for where He has you “for such a time as this.”

On Veterans Day, We Remember

Proud of our servicemen and women who
Step up to the call of the red, white, and blue;
Duty and honor, hard work, concentration,
Distinguishing themselves and serving our nation.

There’s no surrender when faced with evil force,
We have determined servicemen, and women of course.
Taking an oath under God, upheld by prayer,
Those of us at home are glad they are there.

What will the outcome of this struggle be?
Will right prevail, will our nation remain free?
Our people want justice, and are willing to fight,
Looking for our flag by dawn’s early light.

Veterans' Day 2012

On Veterans Day we pray for peace;
we know we need the LORD's blessing.
Let each of us speak honestly to our Maker right now.

Pray protection for the veterans and those in the military services.
Pray for healing for the wounded.
Pray courage and comfort for their families.

Watching the 6 p.m. War

Bravely they smile for the camera,
so young and ready to prove their worth;
Pawns in a bloody struggle
they march to the ends of the earth

Helplessly we watch them go,
and wonder if or when they'll die;
