How to Know What to Do

1. Pray and ask for wisdom. "If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given you. This is to My Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." (John 15:7-8)

2. Submit your motives to the Lord. "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4)

3. Declare the praises of God."But you are a chosen people . . . that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." (I Peter 2:9)

4. Claim the empowering of the Holy Spirit. "God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." (II Timothy 1:7)

5. Have a teachable spirit. "Teach me Your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth..." (Psalm 86:11)

6. Be open to God's correction.He will not have us do anything that is contrary to His character and principles that are written in His Word. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (II Timothy 3:16)

7. Listen for the voice of God, the impressions He puts in your innermost spirit. "I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken." (Psalm 16:7,8)

8. Share your faith with others. "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ." (Philemon, verse 6)

9. Live a life that is consistent with the example of Jesus Christ. "It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age," (Titus 2:12)

10. Expect God to do great things. ". . . He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." (John 14:12-13) 

As you read the Bible notice all the places that mention "know" and "knowledge." Read the books of II Peter and I John. To know we are where God wants us to be today, and doing what He wants us to do today brings peace. He works within us so we can know and do His Will.

Sing a New Song for a New Day, a New Year

The sun arose from darkness and shone brightly today;

I give thanks to our mighty Creator 

Who made all of His creation so magnificent and fine.

I give thanks for the roof over my head today

And the stuff I have accumulated

All the necessities that I say are mine.

I give thanks for the people in my life today:

Husband, our sons and their wives, and grandkids,

And I’m blessed with a good extended family.

I give thanks for the occasions I expect:

Looking forward to the days that will follow;

On to the future with opportunity.

I give thanks for what I’ve learned and know today,

Even the unexpected troubles did their job;

Challenges made me respond and grow.

I give thanks for finding Jesus, the Savior!

Amazing how He brought salvation, 

And I appreciate this reality to know

I give thanks for the invitation to pray:

To unload my burdens of confusion,

To ask and receive forgiveness for every sin.

I give thanks for this new day, this new year!

I acknowledge my uncertainties to Him

And I celebrate His blessed love I’ve received within.

Greater things are a possibility for me!

Greater significant victories!

Greater inner strength and freedom to see;

Greater insight into important things,

Greater happiness that inner freedom brings.

Greater stamina so I don’t so easily tire!

Greater connections with people up higher;

Greater ideas are welcome in my mind,

Greater inspiration I am able to find.

Someone Who Cares About You

Someone who cares about you       

wants to send you this little word of love.

Please receive it with thoughtful consideration.

It is true that you can know

that You are right before God, your Maker;

forgiven of every sin you ever said or did.

On the authority of God’s Word I can tell you this. 

Please don’t be offended; I do not mean to judge,

but I want to share the good news I’ve found. 

More Than a Suggestion From Me

Don’t plan to be a Christian like me:
I’m sure you see my inadequacy!
My words are sometimes very clumsy;
Don’t stumble because we may disagree.

My example isn’t the best you’ll see,
I haven’t achieved what I should be.
Turn to God and pray with sincerity;
Don’t give up on God because of me.

Go straight to the Bible to see
What God’s Word says to you and me —
What to believe and what to do;
Avoid confusion I may have shown you.

Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, Israel, Iran, (etc.)

Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, Israel, Iran, etc.
Political disasters and war,
Japan's earthquakes and tsunami,
Flooding in the U.S. and more!

World-wide trouble and uncertainties,
Some people want to run and hide;
Others are consumed with worry,
Their aspirations and dreams have died.

Financial collapse, dishonesty,
Fearful investor and debtor;
Is there any reason for hope
that the future could be any better?

Jesus Makes a House Call

        When Jesus first started knocking at the door I didn’t know it. The house is a busy place; kids running through with their little friends, the TV on almost all the time, the hum of the washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave — you know what I mean.
        But one day there it was, a friendly knock at the front door. Not demanding, not wimpy, just friendly. And I would have gone over to answer the door, but right then I heard, “You’ve got mail!” so I ran into the bedroom to see what had come up on the computer. Pretty soon, I’d forgotten all about the knocking, and hurried to the kitchen to see what to thaw for dinner.
        A few days later the knocking got my attention and I did go to the door. I was stunned to see Jesus standing there. “My goodness. Oh, I mean, Good Lord! Please come in. Yes, do come in.”
